Gavin Brown is an Australian operatic and crossover tenor whose career spans opera, musical theatre, concert performance and international guest entertainment. A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Gavin holds a Bachelor of Music (Performance) and Master of Music (Opera Performance), having received the Donald Lionel Edgerton, Bud Brown Memorial and George and Margaret Henderson Scholarships.
Gavin has performed extensively as a concert and crossover artist, most recently touring throughout Asia and Europe with the acclaimed group The Twelve Tenors. Prior to this, he appeared as the Raoul de Chagny understudy and swing in Opera Australia’s record-breaking international production of The Phantom of the Opera, performing at iconic venues including the Sydney Opera House and Arts Centre Melbourne.
His operatic repertoire includes roles in Turandot, Aida, The Magic Flute, The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, The Rape of Lucretia, Les mamelles de Tirésias, Götterdammerung, and L’enfant et les Sortilèges. Before moving to London, he also performed as a soloist in two new Australian operas with Opera Australia, Hamlet and Watershed. In 2019, Gavin performed in New York as Tamino in The Magic Flute, as well as Basilio and Don Curzio in The Marriage of Figaro, alongside a series of concerts including an operatic gala at Carnegie Hall.

Gavin has also established himself as a versatile musical theatre and crossover performer, with roles including Fiyero in Wicked, Warner Huntington III in Legally Blonde: The Musical, Fabrizio Naccarelli in The Light in the Piazza and J. Pierrepont Finch in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He also originated the role of Tony Abbott in the Australian musical The Colour Orange.
His concert work has seen him perform alongside internationally acclaimed artists and composers including Patti LuPone, Hans Zimmer and Nobuo Uematsu. Further concert credits include Candide in Bernstein’s Candide, Martin in Copland’s The Tender Land and the role of The Antagonist in Bernstein’s Mass, performed in the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall.

His international career has seen him perform at many of the world’s most renowned concert venues, including - alongside Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House - the Berlin Philharmonie, the Musikverein Vienna, and many other major international stages across Europe, Asia, Australia and the United States.
His television appearances include Carols in the Domain, where he was featured as a ‘Young Star of Australian Opera’, and the 2019 NRL Grand Final, where he performed as a backing vocalist for OneRepublic.
Equally at home in opera, musical theatre, crossover, jazz and popular repertoire, Gavin brings a distinctive combination of classical technique, theatricality and contemporary stage presence to his performances.
